The Rise Up Movement is an organization dedicated to empowering communities to embrace identity and explore what activism means to them through empowerment based workshops, artistic expression and community events.
We strive to be engaging, empowering and inclusive in everything we do.
Rise Up! International
In March 2019, we had the opportunity to take The Rise Up! Movement to Guatemala!
Los Patojos provides education, food, and health care to more than 500 children. It is a place where students are encouraged to express freely through the arts.
These students taught me more in 2 weeks than I could ever instill in them. Most importantly, that all beings, (regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status) deserve to be loved, supported & encouraged to go confidently in the direction of their dreams.

'Rise Up' Workshops
Sponsored by Massey Hall, this is a workshop for students
grades 6 through 9 - geared towards social justice and healthy self-esteem.
Liz Lokre shares her story of overcoming bullying at a young age and the ways music and community building helped her find her voice. By the end of this workshop, students will have answered the following:
1. What are my strengths?
2. What issues am I passionate about?
3. How can I use my strength to make an impact?
